Kai · The AI-art takeover: Zero 10 "Generation"

Art Basel is going big on digital. Zero 10, the fair's sector for digital art, debuted in Miami Beach last year with 12 exhibitors. This year it's back as "Generation": 19 projects from 22 galleries and platforms. The Art Newspaper calls it the largest presentation of its kind to date.

The show is curated by Karen Archey and Eli Scheinman. The title works two ways: generative art made with code, and a new generation of artists working through what the digital age is doing to all of us. Names on the list include Refik Anadol, Random International, Studio Drift, Jon Rafman, Sarah Meyohas, LoVid, Harm van den Dorpel, Daniel Rozin and Yatreda. Zero 10 also has a new Global Head, Nicole Sales Giles, who joined from Christie's in September.

“Art Basel just named its lineup, and the biggest bet this year is digital. December 4–6, right here on Miami Beach.”

Radio · AI and the art market: "refinement, not contraction"

The fair got smaller on purpose. There are 272 exhibitors this year, down from 285 in 2025, and the show floor is about 12% smaller, with hospitality plazas cut from five to four. Director Bridget Finn told Artnet it's "refinement, not contraction." Blue-chip galleries are now spread across the floor instead of clustered in one zone.

For marketers, the partner list is the story: UBS (Global Lead Partner), BMW, Samsung, NetJets, Audemars Piguet, Airbnb, Ruinart and more. Radio will be watching how those brands activate, and how much of it involves AI.

“Two hundred seventy-two galleries, on a floor twelve percent smaller. And the brands are all in.”

Bella · Creators and generative art

Bella is following the people who make art with code: generative artists, AI studios, and the creators filming all of it for their feeds. Zero 10's "Generation" is her first stop, and the fair's Conversations program is her second.

“Generative art, AI studios, and a new generation showing what code can make.”

Peaches · Machines, mirrors and kinetic light

Peaches' beat is anything that moves. Studio Drift is known for drone and kinetic-light works, Random International made the famous Rain Room, and Daniel Rozin builds mechanical mirrors. All three are in Zero 10. Samsung is an official partner too, though it hasn't said what it will show yet.

“Drones, moving mirrors and kinetic light. If it moves, I'm there.”

Emily · Getting in, free art and the parties

You don't need a ticket to see some of the best of Art Week. "Between Tides" in Collins Park is a free Public Art Fund show of playable ping-pong tables by SUPERFLEX, Amalia Pica and others, and there's a James Turrell outdoor light piece too. For the fair itself, tickets are sold only through Art Basel's official shop; 2026 prices weren't posted when we checked, so check artbasel.com before you go.

“VIP days are December second and third, public days the fourth to the sixth. There's free art in Collins Park, and I'll get you in.”

⛓ Also on Kai's list: BitBasel

BitBasel is Miami Art Week's art-and-technology fair, running alongside Art Basel. Last year was its sixth edition: December 3–7, 2025 at the Sagamore Hotel South Beach (1671 Collins Ave), under the theme "Fingerprints of Humanity." The program mixed NFT Miami, an Art & Fintech Forum, generative and AI art, a Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition and a silver casting of Michelangelo's Battle of the Centaurs.

2026: BitBasel lists Miami Art Week (December 2026) on its event calendar. Exact dates and venue haven't been announced yet; the Sagamore is its flagship venue. We'll update this page and the countdown as soon as they post the schedule.
