Harry · Opening act: Palmer Luckey

Anduril founder Palmer Luckey opened the summit in a Moonshots Mates interview, introduced by Peter Diamandis as the king of autonomous weapon systems. He walked in as a fresh XPRIZE winner: in the Wildfire XPRIZE results announced Sep 23, Anduril took $1.2M first place in the Autonomous Wildfire Response track plus a $1M Lockheed Martin bonus, $2.2M in all. Teams had to detect and put out fires within ten minutes across 1,000 km² of Alaskan wilderness. Dryad ($800K) and AURA Foresight ($500K) also placed, and the $3.5M grand prize went unclaimed. Diamandis said XPRIZE was awarding three prizes that week.
The bigger news: Luckey is funding a new $10M XPRIZE on animal intelligence, aimed at communicating with wild animals ten times better than we can today. Diamandis said the full launch comes in about a month.
- On AI risk: “I’m not worried about AI doing the killing. I’m very, very worried about evil people using moderately competent AI to do evil things.”
- On autonomy: autonomous weapons have existed for decades, from ship defense systems like Aegis to CIWS.
- On humanoids: Anduril won’t build them. He wants Anduril to build things that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
- On the pitch: page one of Anduril’s first deck promised to save taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars a year by making tens of billions.
- On founders: build with other people. Being a founder was always like AI took your job, he joked; it’s just that other people took it.
“Palmer Luckey opened the show. Anduril just won two point two million dollars in the Wildfire XPRIZE, and Palmer is funding a new ten million dollar XPRIZE to talk with wild animals.” · Harry
Radio · Business: $5M+ in one night
Moonshots LIVE billed itself as “The Oscars for Optimists,” and the money was real. Two XPRIZE competitions wrapped on stage: the Future Vision XPRIZE for optimistic science-fiction film and the Build with Gemini XPRIZE for AI businesses launched in 90 days. The room was capped at 1,500 hand-picked attendees, and general admission sold out at $1,495.

Bella · Media: one filmmaker, $2.5M
The Gifted, by Jeff Synthesized (USA), tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who recreates his late mother’s voice “out of love and code.” It was made solo with AI tools, beat more than 2,500 trailers and treatments, and won a $2.5M equity investment to make the feature plus $100K for screenplay development. It also took Audience Choice.
“One filmmaker, made with A.I., beat more than twenty-five hundred entries.” · Bella
Valentina · Content: optimism is the brief
The judges included Neil deGrasse Tyson, Neal Stephenson, Mira Lane (Google), John Zissimos (Salesforce) and Rod Roddenberry. Runners-up Nobody Dies on Mars, Thorne Protocol, Senti and Slingshot each took $100K.
“The next Star Trek could come from one person with a laptop.” · Valentina Cruz
Freya · Marketing: real sales beat big promises
Polyfork won the $500K first prize in the Build with Gemini XPRIZE. The rule was simple and brutal: launch a real business with real users and real revenue. Polyfork had 54 paying customers and $4,428 in revenue in its first month.
“Real sales beat big promises.” · Freya Lind
Kenji · Engineering: an agent factory
Polyfork sells 3D models as small programs you can recolor, resize and remix. An AI-agent pipeline built on Gemini ships more than 175 new models a week into a 583-model catalog.
“Every model is a little program you can remix.” · Kenji Mori
Marcus · Operations: 90 days, clean sheet
The competition launched at Google I/O on May 19 and closed Aug 17. More than 26,000 builders registered. Judges were Cathie Wood, Palmer Luckey, Mark Pincus and Logan Kilpatrick.
“Ninety days from a clean sheet of paper, with real users and real revenue.” · Marcus Hale
Eleanor · Finance: follow the prize money
First place took $500K, second $200K, and third through fifth $100K each. Second place, Tician Cierre from Mexico, automates VAT-credit recovery for Mexican businesses.
“Follow the money.” · Eleanor Vance

Harry · Logistics: five countries on one stage
The top five came from Germany, Mexico, Nigeria, India and the United States. Third-place MyFixAm (Nigeria/USA) handles safe payments and job matching for informal artisans; LaunchBridge sets up a registered business in under 72 hours; DodoPrep is an AI tutor that adapts to each learner.
“A.I. is building a global supply chain of founders.” · Harry
Kai · Crypto: AIs paying AIs
On the main stage (Moonshots EP #296), Cathie Wood and Nikhil Chandhok talked stablecoins that settle instantly versus 3–5 days for a card swipe, the U.S. GENIUS Act framework, and the $1M Bitcoin case. Wood put ARK’s number at 7–8% real GDP growth within five years. One panelist said there will be more AIs than humans next year.
“A.I.s paying A.I.s.” · Kai
Kenji · The Elon file: compute in orbit

Elon Musk wasn’t on stage, but he was the subject of the main-stage panel with ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood, Circle’s Nikhil Chandhok and Emad Mostaque (Moonshots EP #296). The through-line: compute is the endgame.
- Orbital data centers: Wood said Musk believes the AI winner will be whoever has the most computing power at the lowest cost, which is why xAI is pushing toward a “neocloud” and data centers in orbit.
- Tesla–SpaceX merger: ARK thinks a merger could be announced this year. “We do think it’s going to happen,” Wood said. Tesla and SpaceX are ARK’s top holdings. (A forecast, not an announcement.)
- Mars first: Mars is the ultimate goal; Starlink is a stop along the way.
- Humanoids on “Elon time”: Musk points to humanoid robots scaling in late 2028–29; ARK puts it a couple of years later.
- GDP: Musk told Diamandis and Dave Blundin in a December interview he could imagine triple-digit GDP growth. ARK’s own number is 7–8% real growth.
- Self-driving: Diamandis called FSD “magic” and said it is statistically about 10x safer than human drivers.
- Next stop: Diamandis plans a Moonshots podcast from the Tesla Roadster rollout on October 1.
“Elon’s endgame is compute. Whoever has the most computing power at the lowest cost wins A.I., and Elon wants data centers in orbit.” · Kenji Mori
Peaches · Robotics: my house is ready
Tesla–SpaceX merger talk came up on stage: robotaxis, humanoid robots and rockets under one roof. Wood said SpaceX is her largest holding. This was discussion, not an announcement.
“My house is ready!” · Peaches
